Greater Faith Temple is a church,
not just a building. God erects his people as a
sanctuary by choosing to dwell among men and
women. We are made the church by the presence of
God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ. This is a
brief history of a people known as Greater Faith
Temple Church of the Living God.
Greater Faith
Temple was founded as a monument to God where
sin-ravaged souls can find their way to Christ,
where the disconsolate and troubled can find hope
and where the saints of God can be nurtured and
grow. Cross sections of members were interviewed -
long-term and short term members; the young as
well as the young at heart. Some of the common
themes found were that they were drawn to this
ministry because of the sincere love exuded by the
Pastor and the members.
They also found it
to be a place where the Gospel was being preached
in the context of real life contemporary issues.
The WORD came alive through the skillful and
anointed oratory expertise of Pastor White
-Haynes. Others were drawn by the order of worship
and the exuberant praise. Some came like the woman
who met Jesus at the Samaritan well who was
looking to fulfill an unrealized need. Others were
besieged by low self-esteem and found a place
where they were valued, their potential was tapped
and their self-image enhanced. They found it to be
a place where the power of God was available to
meet every need and a place where they could
freely exercise their gifts and graces to the
glory of God - young and old alike.
They found a caring
Pastor who was willing to sacrifice of herself,
her time and her finances. As well as a family
that was as loving and concerned as blood
relations were. Greater Faith Temple is a holistic
ministry that addresses not only the spiritual
needs, but the natural needs as well. The ministry
includes mentor counseling, marriage encounter
sessions, pastoral counseling, a peer substance
abuse program, a youth outreach ministry, a
community outreach ministry, a food co-op program
and other progressive ministries, which include
mime ministries and liturgical dance ministries.
Our goals are to
provide a multi-faceted center that reaches out to
minister to all of the needs of the community. We
envision a day care center, after-school study
center, mentoring programs, career development and
job placement center, banquet hall, food pantry,
crisis intervention center and more.
